| Band to play in fundraising Gig | We are looking for a band to support our band in a Habitat for Humanity fundraising night on July 12th at Murphys law in Waikanae. We are providing the PA, sound engineer and drums and we need a band to play for one hour from 8pm on the night. The night is all about raising funds to help finance two local people on their quest to help build a home for a family in one of India's most impoverished areas. | Band Members Wanted | Are you tired of getting deps and working around musicians who play in six bands? Well, so are we. As a result we are looking for two committed, experienced horn players to complement our soul/funk band. With gigs in the pipeline, Funk Salad require two players who can dedicate their time to the band and to regular rehearsals - so no "jobbers" or "sitters-in" please. If you can definitely commit to this project and you are of a relaxed easy-going nature and happy to put in the time and effort with like-minded musicians then we'd love to hear from you. You will need to be confident, self-assured and lively enough to play our sets without charts on stage and to create your own presence within the band at gigs. The horns are required to play fills, phrases, stabs, and riffs rather than lengthy solos, so you will need to have an intuitive ear for the material we play - which is soul and funk based covers of James Brown, Commitments, Kool & the Gang, Joe Cocker, Commodores etc. Rehearsals take place in Plimmerton (on Tuedays) or Waikanae (at weekends) and we have gigs lined up in the Hutt and Kapiti areas. Funk Salad's line up consists of female lead vocal, guitar, keyboards, bass, drums and....maybe you! Please call or for more information. Despite this definitive brief, we are all relaxed with no primo donnas amongst us. The emphasis is very much on having a good time and enjoying the music! Demo CD available to interested parties. |
